Drummer Aaron Comess teams with Leon Gruenbaum/samchillian, Grey McMurray/dg, Oli Rockberger/key and John Davis/b for some moody originals. Gruenbaum’s samchillian is a keyboard that creates more flexible pitches than traditional instruments, and is used to spacy effects as on “The Pink Room” with vocalist James Maddock and Comess’ rock beat as well as the electric “Wacky” and heavy thunder of “Dogs.” Things get more pastoral as Comess varies the beat on “Sculptures” and the ambient with attitude on “Berlin Part Two” while his acoustic guitar skills creates a folksy “Falling Leaves.” Varying moods and themes on a canvas.
