Jeremy Pelt: Live In Paris

Trumpeter Jeremy Pelt is at his muscular best in a quintet setting for a 2017 Paris gig. He leads as the only linear instrument, teamed with Victor Gould/p, Vicente Archer/b, Jonathan Barber/dr and Jacquelene Acevedo/perc for an extroverted and hard hitting night. Pelt sounds inspired and energetic on post-modern pieces such as “Make Noise!” while Barber pushes him into overdrive on the frenetic “Melody For V.” Ecevedo creates a sleek and  hip pulse for the modern “Chateau d’Eau” while teaming with Barber’s ride cymbal for an avalanche as Pelt jabs and punches out an aggressive “Evolution.” A more tender side is produced with Gould at the helm on the sensuously lilted “Black Love Stories” and a lovely “I Will Wait For You.” Pelt has been riding high with his last few releases, and this one may be his strongest one yet, you can feel the muscles flexing!
