Strong toned French alto saxist Gael Horellou brings together an international team of Jeremy Pelt/tp, Etienne Deconfin/p, Viktor Nyberg/b and Antoine Paganotti/dr for a collection of strong post modern originals. The team hits hard wit Paganotti’s assertive drum work on the two takes of the extroverted “The Gale Force” and the team lilts with grace on “Melody” and the horns create a milky froth on “GK.” Horellou’s horn is assertive and searching, snapping on the bopper “Moral De Fer” and delivering rich embers for “Blame it On My Youth.” Pelt feels at home in this setting, searing through “Spiral Dance” and leading the charge on “Roy.” Strong and virule.
