The dynamic team of Jose’ Negroni/p-key, Nomar Negroni/dr-perc and Josh Allen/b create a wildly big sound on this album that sparks with electricity. The material ranges from Swing Era to modern R&B, but this team makes each song their very own cavalcade of melody and rhythm. A take of Blossom Dearie’s “Sweet Georgie Fame” has vocal percussion by the father and son that sizzles while George Duke’s “Brazilian Love Affair” mixes hyperkinetic drum with guest Teddy Kumpel’s rich guitar work. Guest vocalists include the rich Aymee Nuviola and the soulful “Sunny” and Rose Max oozing on the avalanching “Perfidia.” Lapiz Conciente does a vocal on the torrential “Take the A Train” and Pedro Capo’ goes bel canto on “El Incomprendidido.” Soul classics “That’s The Way Of The World” and “Isn’t She Lovely” are given an extra shot of testosterone and are great displays for piano prowess. Don’t challenge these guys to an arm wrestling contest. WHEW!
