Jonah Parzen-Johnson: I Try To Remember Where I Come From

Jonah Parzen-Johnson plays a thick toned baritone sax in combination with an analog synthesizer on this collection of abstract originals. His rich sound is used for long tones while the synthesizer provides tempo and framework to pieces such as the hurdy gurdy feel of “Thes Shoulders, These Shoulders” and the rumbling “Guns Make Us Murderers.” Sounds akin to a soundtrack from Forbidden Planet are palpable on the spacy “I Have Questions” and title track, with hints of a Scottish bagpipe calling into the mist during “Too Many Dreams.” Abstract logic.
