The influence of Brian Eno’s ambient music is felt here as Gaudi plays a barn full of keyboards, programs moogs and things that go bump in the night with various guests on this subtle mix of sonic wallpaper. Dark and spacey moods blend with Eraldo Bernocchi’s guitar on the thick and dark “30HZ Dub Prelude” and “Opus 12, No. 7.” King Crimson bassist Tony Levin adds some muscle to the more rocking “Modular Rondo” and bassist Bill Laswell joins in with Roger Eno’s piano for some hovering tones on “Epilogue Leitmotif.” Draperies of synthesizers, electronics, loops and various programmings make this album one for subtle backgrounds, akin to a more modern Music for Airports. Is there still a place for this in a day of TSA?
