One of the few trumpet players that can mix with the traditional or future, Jeremy Pelt is the sole horn on this wonderfully swinging album with Vicente Archer/b, Jonathan Barber/dr and Jacquelene Acevedo. His rich tone is in full display on a delicate ballade “Your First Touch” and the post bopping title track, while the team gets freeish with clever ideas on “Evolution. On mute the team gets ultra hip on “Chateau d’Eau” and the blues show some swagger on “Cry Freedom.” The rhythm team gets delicate no “Digression” and the percussion has a discussion o “Prologue” and “Intro do Evolution,” letting everyone have a say here. Pelt is making an impressive catalogue, and this one’s a beaut!
