Malian vocalist and guitarist Ag Mossa brings sound of West Africa to mix with indie rock on this mix of sounds of rock and the Sahel desert. Mossa has a cantoral quality to his voice, creating rich textures with the lilting guitar effects on ”Mawarniha Tartit” and the declaratory “Wainan Adobat.” More folksy sounds an percussion get kind of bluesy on “Manhouy Inerzhan” while the strings get banjo-like on “Ehad Wad Nadorhan.” Hints of British Isles folk reminiscent of groups like Pentangle are delivered on pieces like “Adad Osan Itibat” and “Tankra” while dark foreboding shadows are stark on “War Tovyed.” Intriguing mix of nomadic Africa, UK folk and Millennial musings.
