Guitarist Jeff Richman mixes soul and jazz on this fun and funky album with a hip core team of Jimmy Haslip-Will Lee/b, George Whitty/key and Vinny Colaiuta/dr along with some cameo guests. The team shows some hip grooves with synthetic boogie on pieces like the infectious title track with Jeff Beal’s trumpet and “Vibe” which allows Colaiuta to display his wares. Richman’s touch sighs on a delicate “Say It Isn’t So” and mellows out with pianist Taylor Eigsti on the lovely ballad “Samaya” while he rocks out on the tasty Jimmy Palm” and while getting fusion on “Just For You” and the Weather Reportish “Oracle.” Accessible, enjoyable and exciting.
