Less Moody and Blue, Justin Hayward mixes material from his solo albums with hits with the iconic band, which is still alive and well. Hayward is in excellent voice, playing guitar as well with Mike Dawes/g and Julie Ragins/keys-perc. He opens with a rich “Tuesday Afternoon,” closes with “Questions,” “Nights in White Satin” and in between brings out strong solo material such as “The Eastern Sun” and” What You Resist Persists.” There is no strain to his voice, in fact his age has given it an extra texture, making the always well thought out lyrics have more poignancy.
A couple bonus tracks are a delight, as is the bonus music video, “The Wind of Heaven” which is stunning in beauty. Not merely nostalgia, the music here stands up on its own.
