Famed for her harp playing, Brazilian Cristian Braga delivers quasi symphonic interpretations of material in three, count’ em three languages. Classic pieces by Jobim and Caymmi such as “Meditation” and “E Doce Morrer No Mar” are dressed up in a tux with the strings and harp, while French singing on the former and “Mot D’Amour” give a more chanson feel. English voices on “Last Words” and “All Mine” lean on the Muzak-y side but the instrumentals “Canto Triste” and “A Ra” help give some muscle to the merriment. Dado Villa-Lobos makes a guest appearance with voice and guitar, taking the sounds to a more traditional feel as well. Bossa nova for the upper crust.
