The band Brothers of the Baladi consists of Michael beach/voc/perc, Michael Kearsey/voc/b, Clark Salisbury/voc/b-g-str, Charles Pike/perc, and with a handful of guests create a mix of Central Asian and American sounds. At times, you get a dash of Bollywood with Indian grooves on “Piece Of The Rhyme” and the title track, while some percussion and rock rhythms groove on “Sevgilim.” Electric guitar and sitar like strings permeate the rocking “ Saba Samir” and the Indian inflected “One rainy Day” while mystical acoustic guitars strum on the scintillating “Done Estan Ahora” which makes for a mix of salsa and turmeric. Lots of flavors make up this enjoyable disc that begs to be a background for a film from Dehli.
