Mike Pachelli: Fade To Blue

If you’re a 70s rock fan, this is your guy. Mike Packelli lists al of his guitars and amps for this blues-rock disc, and with Rich Russo/dr, Baba Elefante/b and Kevin McKendree/p-B3 (what? They ran out of Italians in the neighborhood?) delivers a one-two punch of a release.

He’s got a streetwise sound to his voice, like he’s selling you a Rolex knock off, as the B3 hums on  “You got Me Where You Want me” or gets swampy with some horns on “Let’s Cut A Rug.” He can snarl on “Magenta Haze” and the band can rock the boogie as on “Mediocre Lovin’” or boogaloo on “Do our Dance.” Hints of Foreigner and Bad Company are alluded to on material such as “I Need My Baby By My Side” but as with all bands with Fenders and Hammonds, the blues are the best, and the album closers with a gem on “These Arms.” Wear your leather jacket for this one.
