Guitarist Samo Salamon teams up with John Hollenbeck/dr and Julian Arguelles/ts-ss to form a lithe and sleekly swinging trio on this collection of originals. Salamon has a clean and glowing touch on his strings, and it works well with Arguelles’ thick sax as the horn sighs on the spacious “Holla Back” and growls on the changing of moods during the pulsating “Kei’s Venice.” With Arguelles on soprano sax, the team mixes rich fragrances on “Moonless.”With no bass support, Hollenbeck has to fill in the gaps, and he does richly with brushes on the lithe yet feisty “Asking For A Break” as well as able to hit heard on the heavy metal “Drop the D.” This tight little team is able to mix impressionistic indigos with giant splashing paint brushes and come up with impressive canvases on each display
