Jordan Officer: Blue Skies

Jordan Officer gets to the tap root of the guitar along with Alain Berge-Tony Albino/dr, Sage Reynolds/b and guest Augie Meyers/b on this record that is as American as a Texaco sign.

He’s got a relaxed and earthy rich voice throughout these songs, sounding like he’s on the back porch with his swampy guitar and amp on “Blue Skies” and the avuncular “How Long Blues.” He swings it easy on “Chains of Love” and twangs his strings with multi-layered vocals on “Got You On My Mind.” The 60s snap on “Shot of Rhythm and Blues,” and he does a shuffling rockabilly read of “The She Kissed Me.” His guitar playing has an irresistible riffable rhythm to it, as on “Night Flight” and the pickin’ and grinnin’”It’s You I Love.” Good for a night at the Moose Lodge!
