Here’s a Christmas album that holds up on its own for the entire year. Bassist/arranged David Ricard puts together a swinging big band that freshens up the Great Nativity Songbook for a fun take of the Carols. Some Ventures-inspired guitar work by Matt Hornbeck rides the wave on “God Rest Ye Merry Surfers” while Jordan Seigel forms a conga line with the piano on “ The Jingle Bell Cha-Cha.” Richa as sandy-toned vocalist Lucy Woodward brings in a breezy “Jing J angle Jungle’ and coos it up on “ We’ll Wrap it Up on New Years Eve.” A definite toe tapper under the mistletoe.
