Julian Julien: Terre II

Here’s some music that mixes genres like back in the old days of fusion, creating audio soundscapes. You get a  plethora of moody keyboard panoramas, sometimes with a pulsating rhythm, or at other instances with a static flow, and guests such as Frederic Collignon with his cornet, Michael Havard/sax, Remi Dumoulin/cl and Siegfried Canto/fl adding textures and drapery. Reeds brood over electronic pulses on themes such as “1 Prelude” and hints of Tomita are felt with various keyboard concepts on  “10 Iris V”  and “13 Mr. John Barry” while “11 Non-sens” is enhanced with Collignon’s warm horn. A Rennaissance feel is delivered with flutes and clarinet on the enticing “4 Ailleurs” while in contrast “5 Iris” and “6 Iris” get a bit feisty and moody. A definite contemplative collection
