Pianist Clare Fischer joins together with drummers Peter Erskine or Mike Shapiro on an intriguingly lyrical collection of jazz standards and originals. There’s a lovely bluesy laziness to pieces like “Love’s Walk,” and the reflective “Two For The Road” and Fischer’s touch is crystalline on the delicate “When You Wish Upon A Star/Someday My Prince Will Come.” Some vibe-sounding keyboard concepts swing well on the boppy “Starbright” and “Novelho,” while the vocals on “Out of the Blue” is fun and fanciful. Things work out best of all, however, when Fischer goes it alone. His reflective “Squatty Roo” and dreamy “Nuages” are glowing embers. Lot is accomplished with a minimum here.
