Lead by pianist and keyboardist Neil Pearlman, Alba’s Edge includes Lilly Pearlman/fiddle, Doug Berns/b, and Jacob Cole/dr for a collection of originals that range from folksy swing to hard hitting fusion. Athe band goes high on the octane as fiddle and drums fly on “General Jinjur/NOLA Chill, while hints of Irish greenery and pubs is on display on “Willard State Park and the embracing “HRK: Strength in Recovery.” The band brings together vocals on the stomping piece “The Diamond” that sounds like it was made for a sweaty night at the pub, while the bookending pieces “Rising” and “Setting” feature flowing piano ideas as a motif for the band to come in and leave like characters in an Agatha Christie novel. Charming!
