Israeli vocalist Rita (not sure of any last name) puts out a ton of popular music in the Middle East, and this recent release mixes Persian melodies with modern sounding instruments and arrangements to create an exciting blend of tunes. Her voice is rich and penetrating, shown to perfection of the earthy “Mobarak Baad,’ while the jazzy “Shah Doomad” mixes traditional wedding music with modern lyrics and themes. Exciting music here for those with a taste for some extra cumin in their musical plate.
