Stephan Micus plays all the instruments here, and it sounds like he must have raided a Pier One Imports, as there are sounds things from all over the world. Bali, Egypt, China, Afghanistan, Ireland, Japan and Morocco all supply instruments ranging from things that are tapped, plucked, strum and blown into. The result is a quiet and meditative unit that allows for thoughtful reflection.
Gentle African percussion is plucked on “Everywhere, Nowhere,” whereas soft and gentle guitar-like strings billow on “Leila.” A folksy Irish flute takes you to a verdant hill on “The Spring” and palpable rumbling bass and guitar leads to the Sahel in “The Feast.” Micus even uses his voice on “The Dance” and a moody flute intertwines with guitar and bass on “Sea of Grass.” Ambience from all over the globe.
