Well, this sure ain’t your uncle Jacque’s Cajun music. The LBR’s consist of Andre Michot/acc, Louis Michot/v-fiddle, Cavan Carruth/g, Pauly Etheredge/dr, Korey Richey/programming-g and Alan LaFleurb. Except for the traditional and danceable “La Jolie Fille N’en…” all of the material is self written and a bit on the garage rock/edgy side. There’s a cluttered feel to material like “Le Reveil De La Louisiane” or the title track that (although the former features Dr. John)wears a bit poorly after a few listens. There is a nice two step on “Croche” and Gordon Gano’s violin on “Bastille” will make you want to grab a partner. But, the pounding on “Carolina Blues” or the thinder of “Maree Noire” are destined to sound dated in 3-5 years
