Joe Blessett: Changing Everything

I make it a point to review everything that comes my way. Here is a release by saxist Joe Blessett (the notes don’t mention any other supporting artists) who runs through 19 disjointed pieces that mix electrical and synthesized noodles such as on “Hidden Edges” to 70’s funk (“Necessary Drama” and “Streets to the Stage”). The sound of the sax and trumpet is quite raw, and the whole thing sounds like an idea put together after a few beers. The last title “Jazz RIP” sort of summarizes the whole session.
