When you think of the Portuguese language, why do we imagine Brazil and not Portugal? Go figure!
Antonio Zambujo may put an end to that. This release has him singing with a warm and understated voice while playing glorious fado and traditional styled guitar along some occasional clarinet. He’s got a lovely touch on the bluesy yet cheerful saudades such as the instrumental “Flintstones,” and when he combines them with his sandied voice as on lilting “Valse de um Pavao Ciumento” your heart lingers for a Lisbon café. Hints of “Making Whoopee are plucked out on the thoughtful “Despassarado”and “Zamba Del Olvidio” has the fragrant addition of a brooding clarinet along with the chiming guitar chords. Throughout the whole disc there is a relaxes sense of relaxed joy, and it oozes out in each note and space. Wonderful
