Pianist Jason Yeager leads a trio with Danny Weller/b and Rousseau through a thoughtful and lyrical collection of (mostly) originals. He’s got a lyrical touch, well displayed on his solo “Prelude” but demonstrated aptly on relaxed and conversant pieces such as “Achi” or the mor dark “Blues For Billy P.” With vocalist Aubrey Johnson, a reading of John Lennon’s “Julia” comes across gloriously ethereal, as does the closing title track. Jean Caze/tp and Noah Preminger/ts join in on a Monkish and playful “Keep the Fire” while Caze goes phlegmatic on the misty “Aurora.” Fresh as spring water.
