Like the cover photo, guitarist Bruno Elisabetsky is outstanding in his field, bringing his suave strings into play with a lyrical team of Julian Lee/ts-ss-fl, Pedro Segundo/dr-perc, and Lex Warshawsky/b on a collection of impressively impressionistic originals.
His touch on the nylons is gentle around Lee’s tenor sax on the flowing “Rush Mental”, creating an ebullient solo into to the warm and upbeat title track. Lee is dark and assertive as Segunco and Warshawsky dig into the pulsating “Luzes” while his soprano is sweet on the delicate “Pontuadas”. Elisabetsky gives a gentle folk feel as he sings along with Lee’s soprano on the pastoral “Cycling” and is assuring and patient with a wordles into to the resonant “Liberdade”. Elisabetsky’s strings percuss under Lee’s flute on the melodic “Longing Longing” and flows with Lee’s tenor over Segundo’s brisk brushes on the graceful ebb and flow of “Continuum”. Subtle strings that draw you in close.
