Elliot Galvin: The Ruin

Pianist and composer Elliot Galvin creates rustic mood with a rhythm team of Ruth Goller/b-voc, Sebastian Rochford/dr and guests Liget Quartet for over half of the pieces. He opens things up with an edgy solo “A House, A City” and then has some harrowing effects with the core team with Goller in  haunting fashion for “From Beneath”. The string go pizzicato on the leaping “Stone Houses” and create long shadows for the dark “Giants Corrupted” and “Still Under Storms” . Guest Shakuhachi takes you to Monument Valley with her flute on the spacious “High and Wide”, and the rhythm rustles fo “As If By Weapons”. Full moon out tonight.
