Step right up and check out some of the beefiest tenor men in town. Don Aliquo, Jeff Coffin and Joel Frahm swagger in town along with Ryan Middagh/bar, Alex Graham/as and Roy Agee/tb for a rollicking big band collection of reed rapture. The horns sway on the Basie-ish wailer “Waiter, Make Mine Blues” along with singer Jenna McLean, while she belts out a “Cry Me A River” around Pat Coil’s piano. A Nelson Riddle-inspired “This Time The Dreams On Me” has Middagh going into magma, while a Mingusy bopper “Wired” wails and flails, while “Tenor Madness’ snaps like snow peas.
