Ollee Owens brings a swampy growl to a collection of originals and covers with a team of Will McFarland-Phil Hugly-Chris Rodriguez/g, Tommy Sims-Craig Young/b, Bobby Blazier/dr, DeMarco Johnson-Gabe Klein/key and guest horns and vocals. The songs have a Memphis STAX feel to them as on “The Neighborhood” and a dark “Some Days” with some tasty guitar licks on the slinky “Roots” and spooky “Shivers and Butterflies”. Owens shows some grit on a rural “Nowhere To Hide” and brings some gospel to the show on “Lord Protect My Child”. Dry rubbed blues.
