Playing trombone and pedal board, composer Nick Adema brings a core of Joy Shechter/p, Azubike Onwuka/eg, Chen Har Even/dr, Noah Preminger/ts, Ante Medic/g together with some guests for some wide ranging post bop. There’s a hint of Miles Davis’ “Nefertiti” on the drumming cascade lead of “Beginnings” while Preminger gets funky on “Y-Axis”. The leader’s horn and voice glide around on “O & K” and creates and ambient mood for “Demetra” and the dark abstractions of “Still Moving” a couple of tunes feature effects, as on “111” while the team bounces around like a pinball game on the dramatic “Goglio”. Hip, hep and hopping.
