Playing piano and keyboards, Monika Herzig brings in an all XX cast of Rosa Avila/dr, Jamie Baum/fl, Reut Regev/tb, Gina Schwarz/b, Leni Stein/g and Camille Thurman/ts-voc on this graceful collection of originals. Thurman adds her voice to the Brazilian “Behind” with Baum’s flute in a mellow mood for “Arrival In Forever”. Herzig’s one keys give a rich pulse to “All IN Good Time” and her piano digs well into the groove supplied by Schwarz on “Right Now” and thoughtful “PC”. Lyrical lines.
Drummer Sofia Goodman mixes moods with Blaise Hearn/tp, Desmond NG/tb, Jovan Quallo/as-fl, Dan Hitchcock/ts, Alex Murphy/p, Leland Nelson/b and Jimmy Lopex/perc on a collection of originals. The team gets a bit free and frisky on the more intuitive “Socket” and “Receptive”, while going pastoral around Hitchcock’s tenor on “Gratitude”. And the sublime “Channel”. Murphy gives rich harmonies on “The Space Within” and Hearn paints with pastels on “Trust”. Winsome wonders.
