In this election year, Jeff Lederer becomes an MSNBC news reporter, speaking and singing while playing the saxes and piccolo with Kirk Knuffke/ct-tp-voc-key, Bob Stewart/tub-voc, Matt Wilson/dr-voc, Curtis Hasselbring/el-tb and Mary Larose/voc. The “songs”, if you call them that, are essentially satirical political messages concerning a wide range of issues, al done in a playful way, but the po ints are made. Larose” takes on “John Carter’s “And She Speaks” while even Charles Mingus’ famed “Fables of Faubus” is modernized for our times, with Wilson steering the direction. There is music, as the team bops between speeches and poems on “Deportation Operation” with some snarky with on “Buttigieg vs Saunders”. Did these guys get a table at the Democratic Convention?
