Creative duets from vocalist Youn Sun Nah and pianist Jon Cowherd make up pastel impressions on this recent release. Cowherd’s keyboards create an almost lullaby-like feel on the flexible “Feeling Good” and vulnerable “Killing Me Softly With His Soung”. Things are more bouncy on the electric piano on a bouncy and wordless “Coisas Da Terra” with dark Spartan colors on “Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child”. On acoustic piano, Cowherd gives a vaudevillian tinny tone to Nah’s cries on “I’ve Seen That Face Before” and the chasson’d “La Foule”. Musical etchings.
