The husband and wife team of Spencer/g-voc and Nancy/b-voc create joyful and bouncy cooings on this album hinting at Lambert, Hendricks and Ross in terms of harmony and style. Teamed with drummer Bill Goodwin and with cameos by Dave Liebman/ss, Jay Rattman/as, Peter Philips/synth, Ed Ludwig/ts, Craig Kastelinik/org and Neil Braunstein/dr, the cheerful couple do a clever take of “Whisper Not” and give “A Child Is Born” a folksy fill. Some tasty guitar and Liebman’s soprano give a fresh feel to Chicago’s hit “Does Anyone Know What Time It Is” and there’s a George Bensony funk feel to the hipper than hip version of “Moanin”. So happy together!
