Trumpeter Natsuki Tamura teams up with pianist Satoko Fujii for a collection of intuitive originals, some focusing on lyrics and others on moody atmospheres. Of the latter, Tamura’s mouthpiece of guttural effects contrasts with Fujii’s ectomorphic melodies on “On the Flyway” while the brass splats and splurts feel like ocean foam on “Wintering” Fujii creates some ivory plodding and platting on “Traveling Bird” while clear piano, cymbals and clear horn open things u on “Migration” and eerie piano rumblings create night shadows for “Waiting For Dawn”.
