Pianist Bryn Roberts displays a classy reminiscence of Bill Evans on this lyrical trio album with Matt Penman/b and Quincy Davis/dr as they work through a mix of originals and standards. Roberts shows some uptown styling on the night clubbish take of “You Do Something To Me” while he glides over Davis’ ride cymbals on a relaxed “My Ship”. Roberts’ fingers cascade like a gentle waterfall on the rich “Let’s Agree” with he gets into some dark shadows on the chiming “ Stevedor Cosplay”. Penman displays alacrity around the leader on the vintage sounding “Aloft” and Davis’ brushes assuage the graceful “Amaryllis”. Cirrus clouds of sound.
