Every now and then, a fresh Brazilian voice enters the scene to mix not only the past but future of the seductive sounds of bossa nova. Here, Bruna Black teams with Vitor Goncalves on the piano, keys and accordon along with Chico Pinheiro/g, John Pattitucci/b, Duduka Da Fonseca/dr and Rogerio Boccato/perc and a handful of cameos.
Black’s voice has a hint of Marisa Monte and dash of Astrud Gilberto as she wisps around Pinheiro on the sublime “Va Revelacao” and “Perolas”. She’s confident around the piano on “Mara Me Entender” and in strong voice for the confident “Uma Noite Com Voce”, upbeat for a cooing “ Romantico Calor” and folksy with Pinheiro for the gentle “Sera’”.
