BPM: Seriously

Session superstars get together on this latest release, with bass legend Brian Bromberg, guitar wizard Paul Brown and chart topping saxist Michael  Paulo stuff the studio with high chunks of funk on this bicep flexing album.

Brown has a guitar sound that was weaned on George Benson and Larry Carlton, and he brings a feel similar to those classic CTI sessions when Paulo taps into his inner Stanley Turrentine on a easy and breezy “Eastside Party” Likewise, some delectable guitar work creates some bon mots for Paulo’s soprano for the slowly  simmering “Black Pearl” while he clicks and pops to Bromberg’s bass on “Slip Slide”. Bromberg bends and snaps the bass like Reese Witherspoon on the punchy funk of “Seriously?” and digs in with Brown like their on a chain gang on the dark “You’re All I Need”. Dreamy tones float on the gliding “Don’t  Look Back” with Paulo belting out a Motown feel on the soulful “Grid Lock”. The heads are bobbin’ when listening to this one!
