Christian pilgrim Tord Gustavsen brings his trio of Steinar Raknes/b and Jarle Vespestad/dr into the world of church themes and hymns on this liturgical meditation. The pianist plays each song like a prayer, soft and reverent on “Jesus Gjor Meg Stille”, as tender as a candle light on “Seeing” and somber in reflection of fellow believer Bach on “Christ Lag In Todesbanden”. Vespestad’s brushes are as subtle as light through a stained glass window during “Extended Circle” and Raknes’ bass wafts like incense during “Seattle Song”, but it is Gustavsen’s liturgical touch that turns this album into a recitative. Believing is seeing.
