Violinist Meg Okura teams up with pianist Kevin Hays for a collection of duets, some improvisations and some part of a suite. The pair of improvisations are quite lyrical with just a dash of elliptical adventures, while tunes such as “Without Words” and “Lingering” are rich and passionate sonatas. The “Seven Short Pieces” include folkish themes such as “Shamainm” and “Maim Korim” with Hays in a Satie and Debussyesque mood, while Okura has a Sibelius feel on “Aleph” and a clever “Blues Kachol”.
