Jo Harrops’s earthy voice carries her through a mix of originals and covers on this album with Anthony Wilson/g, Victor Indrizzo/dr, Jim Cox/key and David Piltch-Larry Klein/b. Produced by Klein, the album has his usual touch of comfort and style, with a dash of Nashville on the bluesy “Whiskey or Th Truth” and earthiness on Harrop’s own “Beautiful Fools”. She shows a nice bluesy feel on the late night “You’ll Never Be Lonely in Soho” and tells a good story for “Too Close For The Sun”, with a nice sense of drama on Leon Russell’s “If It Wasn’t So Bad”. Strong strokes with the paint brush.
