Pianist Andy Milne forms a trio with John Hebert/b and Clarence Penn/dr withguests Ingrid Laubrock/ts and Yoko Reikano Kimura/koto for a rich mix of originals. The threesome show pretty lyricism on the melodic “Papounet” with the leader leaning towards Bill Evans land on “Broken Landscape” and Hebert featured on the spacious ”Apart”. Milnes does a rich and moody aria on “Solitude”, but things get really creative with Kimura’s koto joining in on the fragrant “Lost and Found” while as a quintet, Laubrock goes lurking around the corners on “Beyond the Porcelain Door” and the forms go delicate and dainty on the pastoral “ Kumoi Joshi”. Soft pedals of floating sounds.
