Pianist Sean Fyfe imbibes vintage Blue Note sounds with a post bopping collection of Dave O’Higgins/ts, Matt Fishwick/dr and Luke Fowler/b on a mix of originals and jazz standards. Of his own material, Fyfe pens a sensuously hip samba on which O’Higgins longboards for “See Ya!” and joyously bops along on “Skitch”. Both piano and tenor sax are dreamy on “Prelude To A Kiss” with Fowler digging in with Fishwick on “Without A Song” and the hip hugger of “Just In Time”. As timeless as a navy blue dress jacket and bass weejuns.
