The two front line of saxists Michael Herrera and David Chael join with the Pagan brothers of Michel/p and Louie/b along with Ra DeMarchi/dr on this exciting collection of (mostly) originals from the pianist. Herrera’s alto is strong when bopping on “Burn It Forward” and rich when bouncing over Louie’s bass on “Guess Who Blues” With Chael’s tenor glowing on a lyrical blend of ”Where Do We Go From Here” supported by Michel’s piano. Some soulful keyboards groove well on the sultry “Gaviota” with the team sizzling around Herrera’s searing soprano on a celebratory and Mediterranean “Napoli”. This is a fun one, as flavorful as a Quatro Stazione pizza!
