Tenor saxist Omer Leshem has that old school growl and roar, akin to Sonny Rollins or Dexter Gordon, performing his own material with a team of Mose Elmakias/p, Elam Friedlander/b Ben Silashi/dr and Nadav Remez/g. With Nadave, he creates rich impressionistic tones on the pretty “Back Home” and forms dark moods around Friedlander’s solo on “David’s Devastating Journey”. The rhythm team creates a rivulet as it digs in for Leshem on “Go You Maniac” and bounces on the kinetic “Twilight Bop”, galloping through Friedlander’s line on “The Heroic Era of No Consequences”. Leshem’s palpable tone glides over Elmakias’ gallops on “Pull The Donkey” and is glows like embers on a luscious “Mulberry Garden”. A tone that rings.
