One of the most festive jazz musicians. Omar Sosa is caught here a the Kulturzentrum Schlachthof in Bremen Germany with his band of SubZ/rap, Sheldon Brown/ss-ts-bcl, Geoff Brennan/b, Elliot Kavee/dr and Gustavo Ovalles/perc. The two disc, five song concert consists of two songs over 30 minutes and the others clocking in at around 15-17, so the emphasis is on stretching out, to say the least. Brown’s soprano is frisky and free on the wild ride medley of “Eleggua/Dame Un Tempo” while somelovely bass clarinet precedes the avalanche of percussion on “Gracias Senor/Blanco En Africa”. Sub-Z’s rap rides the chaotic rhythm of “Remember Monk” and takes part of the frenzied “Un Dia Despues”, sizzling over the leader’s piano work on the pretty “Mis Tres Notas”. Extroversion of energy.
