MUSICAL MORSELS…Percussia: Plucked & Struck

Subtle and soft interplay is created by Ingrid Gordon, playing the xylophone and various percussion instrument accompanied by Susan Jolles and her creative Celtic harp. The two sound like a modern version of the folk group Pentangle, mixing harmonies from Gaellic to Asian in a gently improvised fashion, overflowing with melody.

There are soft Bodhi tree flower pedals falling on “Envelope” with some pretty harp daintily chiming on “Jahla” and “Sonata In Shatym”. The subtle percussion crystals glisten on “Was I The Same When I Got Up This  Morning” and there’s a graceful waltz to the guitar likings of “The Lady Rich, Her Galliard” and the waltzing “The Shoemaker’s Wife (A Toy)’. The Latine “Cuando El Rey Nimrod Al Compo Salia” saunters and the Sephardic “Puncha, Puncha La Rosa Huela” include earthy voice from soprano Melissa Fogarty, with the entire album  a collection of radiant pastels.
