Bireli Lagrene: Solo Suites

One of the French guitarists to have moved on after initially being bitten by the Django Reinhardt bug, Bireli Lagrene delivers a tasteful solo album on both acoustic and electric guitar. Mostly comprised of originals, the album does included a take of “Caravan” with some percussive finger work and a gorgeously reflective “My Foolish Heart” along with a genteel “Put Your Dream Away” and intimate “Nature Boy”. His own “Buster Keaton” is quite rhapsodic, with soft tones on “12.15” and tender tones for “Fifty Five Reasons”. He  plugs in and gets playful on “Blue Blues” and digs in on “ Un Certain Groove”. Rich etchings.
