Playing piano and Rhodes, Taylor Eigsti shows his impressive composing skills on this wide ranging album with an Agatha Christie rotation of guests. The core team of Kendrick Scott/dr and Harish Raghavan/dr are supplemented by Maya Kronfeld’s keyboards on the forward pulsed “Let You Bee” while trumpet legend Terence Blanchard glistens on “Light Dream” many of the tunes here have a cinematic feel to them, as if you can envision them as part of a scene, as on “The Rumor” or Gretchen Parlato’s riveting vocal delivery on “Beyond The Blue”. Dayna Stephens and Charles Altura add tenor sax and guitar respectively for a textured “Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered” and Julian Lage’s guitar forms pastel colors on the pretty “Look Around You”.
