The team of Kevin Sun/sax-cl-sunoa, Christian Li/p, Jeonglim Yang/b and Dayeon Seok/dr mix early swing tunes played with today’s sound teamed with some originals. Sun plays the rarely used C melody sax to add to the traditional feel, slinky on “After You’ve Gon” while a bit John Coltrane-ish on “China Boy”. He rollicks with Seok on “Not My B Lues” while his clarinet is loose on “Origin Story” The team is elliptical on “Two Way Mirror” and crying out on “Taepyeongso Blues”..more “gotcha” than “Hotcha”.
